Floor & ceiling

ceiling = resistancefloor = support
  • Support is like a floor. Price has often stopped falling there and bounced up.
  • Resistance is like a ceiling. Price has often stopped rising there and turned down.
  • Use the horizontal line tool to mark both on the chart above.

Trend line

higher lowstrend line goes up
  • In an uptrend, join two or more lows. Each low is higher than the one before.
  • In a downtrend, join the highs instead. Each high is lower.
  • Try it: pick the trend line tool and join two lows on Nifty 50.

Zones

support zonetouch 1touch 2retestprice
  • Find it: look for 2 or more places where price turned in the same area. Draw a box around it.
  • Touches: more reactions mean more traders are watching. It is never a guarantee.
  • Retest: price may come back to a broken zone. Long wicks there show a rejection.
  • Be honest: two people draw zones differently. Use them to learn, not to predict.

Candles

highlowcloseopenopencloseGREEN dayRED day
  • Each candle is one day. The body spans open to close.
  • The thin lines (wicks) show the day's high and low.
  • Green closed above its open. Red closed below.

Volume

big volumebars at the bottom = how much traded
  • Volume bars show how much traded that day.
  • A big move on high volume is a stronger signal than the same move on low volume.
  • Remember: charts describe the past. They do not predict the future.

Stock screener

How to use it: companies start sorted by market cap (biggest first) with P/E shown. Click any column heading to sort. Compare P/E only within the same sector. This is for learning, not for picking stocks.

Screener Quest ☆☆☆☆☆

Use the screener below, then tick each mission. Practice only, no tips.

Guess the P/E

Made-up numbers, just for practice. P/E = price ÷ earnings per share.

Market cap

smallmidlargesize, not quality
  • Market cap is the company's total value on the stock market.
  • It tells you the size, not the quality.
  • Bigger companies usually move less than small ones.

P/E

Price₹100÷Earnings₹5=P/E20you pay ₹20 for every ₹1 earned
  • P/E is price divided by earnings per share.
  • Compare it only with companies in the same sector, never across sectors.

Change %

today?MonTueWedThuFri
  • Change % shows today's move.
  • One day says little. Look at weeks and months.
  • Sort, then ask why: if a stock tops the list, find the news behind it first.
